In February 2025 four teenagers got together to make devastatingly good music. By winning the U20 Podium Wienxtra competition on the 5th of May 2025, The Devastation was hailed as “Vienna`s youngest metal band”. Playing at Usus am Wasser, Café Carina, Donaupark, Flex, Escape, Szene Wien and Gasometer they soon proved themselves to be more than just a schoolband. 

Inspired by the classic metal sound and the dark atmosphere of Black Sabbath, they are developing their own vision of the genre with a dense bass- and drum sound, booming guitars and vigorous haunting vocals. Despite of their age, they are experienced musicians and performers, who proved that their own compositions , musical skills, stage presence and lyrics are beyond their age. 

Their performance on 27.10. 2025 as local support of The Night Eternal/Year of The Goat at Viper Room, Vienna https://pix666.de/year-of-the-goat-wien-2025-konzertbericht/ was hyped by fans and critics alike. Established underground festivals such as Doom over Vienna, 8.11.2025, https://stateofguitars.net/doom-over-vienna-xix/ Blasphemy over Villach (6.12.20258 and Dunkelhate VII in Graz (13.12.2025) soon followed.

Convinced, that Heavy Metal is not only a genre, but a community, they want to share their enthusiasm not only with established fans but are working hard to proof to their own generation that Metal is the voice of the future.

Their mission seems to be going well…

By winning 2nd place at the 2026 Planet Festival Tour, Austria`s biggest Band Competition, they proved that their heavy darkness cannot be ignored by the mainstream.

Their teenage dreams of the early band cellar days  such as playing with and meeting their idols are starting to come true: Having won the Area53 bandcontest 2026 they will open for Arch Enemy. And at Europe`s biggest free outdoor festival - the Donauinselfest -  for Avatar.
