The Devastation is in some way the sensation of the Viennese and Austrian scene this year. The band is dedicated to express the darkness around and within us and defines their aesthetic proposal as occult rock/metal with elements of doom and punk”  Foreigner https://stateofguitars.net/demetra-cartsos-the-devastation-interview/

Founded in February 2025 by Demetra Cartsos with an ambition to make devastatingly good music “The Devastation” won the U20 Podium Wienxtra competition on the 5th of May 2025 at their first ever live performance. Hailed as “Vienna`s youngest metal band”, the four teenagers soon proved that their sound, lyrics and vision are far beyond their age.

Inspired by the sound and the dark atmosphere of Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Dio, Savage Master and Lucifer, they are developing their own vision of the genre with a dense bass- and drum sound, booming guitars and vigorous haunting vocals.

Their performance on 27.10. 2025 as local support of The Night Eternal/Year of The Goat at Viper Room, Vienna https://pix666.de/year-of-the-goat-wien-2025-konzertbericht/ was hyped by fans and critics alike. Established underground festivals such as Doom over Vienna, 8.11.2025, https://stateofguitars.net/doom-over-vienna-xix/ Blasphemy over Villach (6.12.20258 and Dunkelhate VII in Graz (13.12.2025) and Metalnight Ternitz ( 4.7.2026) followed. By winning 1st place at the Area53 Bandcontest and 2nd place at the 2026 Planet Festival Tour, Austria`s biggest Band Competition, they proved that their heavy darkness cannot be ignored.Their performance on the 88.6 stage at Vienna`s Donauinselfest, Europe`s biggest free outdoor music festival established them as an upcoming band that is more than ready for the big stages.

Convinced, that Heavy Metal is not only a genre, but a community, they want to share their enthusiasm not only with established fans but are working hard to proof to their own generation that Metal is the voice of the future.
